Questions about ceiling fan installation
Why does the box matter?
A fan is heavy and it moves. A regular light box is not made to hold it. A fan-rated box is fastened to the framing so the fan stays secure and does not wobble loose over time.
Can you put a fan where I only have a light?
Usually, yes. We swap the box for a fan-rated one and use the existing wiring. If you want the fan and the light on separate switches, we can run the wire for that.
Can you install a fan on the lanai or porch?
Yes. Outdoor spaces need a damp- or wet-rated fan, depending on how exposed the spot is.
