Questions about outlets, switches and GFCI
What is the difference between GFCI and AFCI?
GFCI protects people from shock where water is nearby, like kitchens, baths, garages, and outdoors. AFCI protects against arcing in the wiring, which can start a fire. Code calls for each in different places.
Can you replace two-prong outlets?
Yes. If there is no ground wire, there are code-approved ways to make them safe, including GFCI protection. We explain the options.
Can you add outlets near the pool?
Yes. Pool-area outlets have specific distance and protection rules, and we install them to meet those rules.
